Hydrate

Disclaimer: this is part blog part item review. It didn't start off as a blog post but we all know I am an over sharer.

I am going on my very first cruise in 21 days. I am very excited but also very mad at myself.

About 150 days ago I meant to start a diet and exercise regime to get in some other shape than my current situation. Of course I did not, because -insert whichever invalid reason you want here. Birthdays, family visits, margaritas, pool parties, listing the house and beer are the real reasons.

Truth is, I am pretty lazy and I love food. Not just unhealthy food but food that should be low fat and healthy, too. Sweet potatoes, baked chicken, broccoli... that is a dieters perfect dinner, right? Well, I must take it to new levels because the scale won't budge. I am a modern medical mystery to my ultra fit cousin who can pass a life guard test without trying, and do a triathlon at any given moment. He followed me around the market once in awe of how healthy each item I put in the cart was. He looked at me with a curious face as he asked if that is how I always shopped. I said yes. He said "You eat so healthy! Do you just not move?" I couldn't stop laughing because it is so true.

I can crash diet and lose 20 pounds quickly but I cannot diet and exercise or I will never lose any weight which gets discouraging. Don't even try to tell me the whole muscle weights more than fat story because I'd much rather lose weight THEN gain muscle.

So here I am. Day 10 into actually trying to stick to my diet. Down a few pounds but it fluctuates up and down which is so frustrating. I noticed the days I force myself to drink water all through the day instead of gulping down a couple glasses every few hours it really helps.

I am often sent products to review and recently was offered a discount on this really cool water bottle with a time tracker printed on the side.It is from Three drops for Life. I knew I needed to up my water intake so I ordered it. This has really changed the game for me.

Not only does it have hour marks to make sure I am drinking the right amount of water every hour, it also has the ounce marks in case I want to track it that way. It is a 32 oz bottle that I fill up 2 times during the day on a regular water day. Most days though I find myself going through that and filling it again. I have always been bad at drinking enough water and now at the minimum I know I am getting at least 64 oz. The bottle is made from BPA free plastic and is light weight so I can just throw it in my bag. It also fits in my cup holder in the car. It has a medium sized mouth opening (about and inch and a half), and if I am in a rush to gulp down the water I do spill a little. I have no grace.

I still sip my ice tea (unsweetened is my fave) throughout the day and have a glass of water with my meals. So this has been in addition to my regular fluid intake.

I was able to order it at a discount, and anyone who knows me knows I am Frugal, oh yes with a capital F! I don't buy things I don't think are good. I take price into consideration for EVERYTHING especially when I know someone is going to look into something because I recommended it. Normally I would think that the price listed is pretty expensive for a water bottle, however after looking at some other plain water bottles that were around the same price point if not more and I consider it to be more of a tool that accessory. So for me the value is there.
